House Rules for Councillor Ben Wang’s Social Media

Hey there! Welcome to my social page, your spot to chat about Georges River community topics like local planning, sustainability, and fun events! As your independent councillor for Hurstville, I’m here to keep our conversations open, relevant, accurate, and kind, following the Georges River Council Social Media Policy (2023). By joining in, you agree to these rules. I may remove posts or block users if they don’t follow them. Let’s make this a great space for everyone!

My Promise to You

• Openness: This page is for everyone to share ideas about our community!

• Relevance: I’ll post updates on local projects, sustainability, and events.

• Accuracy: I’ll share reliable info and fix mistakes quickly.

• Respect: I’ll listen to your views with kindness, even if we disagree. My posts are my own opinions unless stated as official council views.

Your Part in the Fun

1. Be Kind : Share with respect. Don’t post anything mean, offensive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or inappropriate. No swearing or bullying, please!

2. Stay on Topic : Talk about Georges River issues like planning or events. No spam, off-topic posts, or unapproved ads.

3. Play by the Rules : Avoid sharing misleading info, private or confidential council details, or anything that breaks copyright, court orders, or incites illegal stuff.

4. Give Credit & Get Permission : Credit others’ work when sharing. Get parental consent before posting about kids.

How We Keep Things Friendly

• Monitoring: I check this page once daily on a best-endeavour basis. Responses might take longer than 24 hours.

• Removing Posts: If a post breaks these rules (e.g., rude or spammy), I may hide or remove it and keep a record (like a screenshot). I’ll try to let you know why and how to appeal.

• Blocking/Banning:

o Three rule-breaking posts may lead to a block or ban. I’ll notify you (if possible), consider your reply, and confirm the decision, duration, and appeal process in writing.

o Serious issues (e.g., threats) may get an immediate 28-day ban, with a chance to respond if practicable.

o Using fake accounts to dodge a ban means an instant block.

• Appeals: Think a removal or ban was unfair? Email mail@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au within 7 days with your reasons. A council staff member (not involved in the decision) will review and reply.

Keep It Private

This page is public, so don’t share personal details like names or addresses. I’ll remove any private info posted without consent. For private matters, email mail@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au or call Georges River Council at (02) 9330 6400. Any personal info used officially follows council privacy policies and NSW laws.

Got a Complaint?

Don’t post complaints about the council or staff here. Instead, use the council’s Feedback and Complaints Handling Policy at www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au or contact (02) 9330 6400 or mail@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au.
